Nature photographers have incredible opportunities in the Galapagos Islands. These include close encounters with curious wildlife, unusual landscapes, and endemic flora. Krisztina Scheeff, of KS Nature Photography, just returned from leading a small team of photographers to this magical place. They explored approximately a dozen islands and islets while onboard the Tip Top II catamaran. Krisztina has shared excerpts from her trip diary and a selection of her breathtaking images. Enjoy!
It was a beautiful bird to welcome us in Ecuador, the Golden-rumped Euphonia. Yes, I arrived safely. After a quiet day at the hotel, I am now waiting for my group. Tomorrow, we will be visiting Bellavista Cloud Forest Reserve to see hummingbirds & butterflies. Friday, we will travel to the Galapagos Islands. Good morning from the Galapagos Islands It is truly a magical place. We’ve been island-hopping for a few days and it was a great experience. The beauty of the islands and the wildlife around them is beyond words. We usually start our day with a breakfast and then head to an island for some photography in the beautiful morning light. Then we return to the boat for a snack, snorkeling, lunch, further photography until sunset, then dinner, followed by a review.
Everyone has adhered to Covid protocols throughout the trip — it all felt very safe. Crew and the Tip Top II boat are amazing, they take care of us 24 hours a day. Crew is amazing and goes above and beyond for everyone aboard. The crew ensures that we feel safe every time we board the dinghies. They also take good care of our equipment. While I have many new favorite photos from this amazing trip, this stunning Red-billed Tropicbird, with a long tail and a beautiful red bill, was taken on South Plaza Island. As soon as I can find the time to look at photos and stay on the boat, I’ll be sharing more. After two days of exploring the Galapagos islands and waters, I am back online. These were the best eight days of my life! !
